AL leader stabbed dead in Naogaon

An Awami League leader has been stabbed to death in Naogaon.

Mashiur Rahman Babu, 45, hailing from Aranagar village of Dhamraihat upazila of Naogaon, died Tuesday morning.  He was the Awami League vice-president of Aranagar union.

Police have detained three in relation to the incident.

According to locals, Babu had a a quarrel with his neighbour Raja over matters related to property in the area near Aranagar High School Monday evening. At one point, Raja and his accomplices stabbed Babu and left him bleeding on the street.

Later, locals found him and took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died under treatment around 10:30am on Tuesday.

Officer In-Charge of Dhamraihat police station Zakirul Islam said: "We have detained Raja, Yusuf, and Maruf in this connetion."

However, no case has been filed on the matter yet, he said.
