Flood situation improves in Moulvibazar

The flood water has started receding from Moulvibazar municipality, Kulaura, Komolganj, Rajnagar and Sadar upazila leaving the roads and houses in devastated condition on Saturday.

Although the overall flood condition in Moulvibazar slightly improved, the local communities have been greatly affected by it.

People have been suffering from acute drinking water crisis while water-borne diseases started to spread at different areas. Most of the clay-made houses collapsed after the flood.

Several potholes were created on the roads while waste and decomposing animals clogged many areas as the water receeded.

Transportation on Moulvibazar-Kulaura road and Moulvibazar-Sylhet highway resumed but strong current of flood water inundated a culvert on the road to Chatlapur Immigration Check Post halting export-import between Bangladesh and India.

Local Water Development Board said the water of Kushiyara River was flowing at 26 cm above the danger level at Sherpur point on on Saturday.
