Chittagong publisher Jamal Uddin receives death threat

Jamal Uddin, a prominent liberation war researcher in Chittagong and proprietor of Balaka Prakashan, received death threat from an unidentified person.

The person who called him from mobile number 01960557198 on Monday night, threatened to kill the publisher and blow up Balaka Prakashan office.

The publisher, also the secretary of Chattogram Srijanshil Parakashak Samity and president of the Chittagong chapter of Bangladesh Gyan O Srijanshil Parakashak Samity, lodged a general diary (GD) with Kotwali police station on Tuesday.

Jamal Uddin, a member of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), has been engaged with publishing books for the last 19 years.

“On several occasions, I earned  the anger from the anti-liberation fanatical forces for writing the history of liberation war,” claimed Jamal Uddin in the GD.

The publisher further sought  the support of the law enforcing agencies to provide his security.

Meanwhile, the leaders of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), condemned the threat made to the publisher and demanded the intimidator be identified and arrested without delay.
