Unknown perpetrators have vandalized the idols and damaged doors, windows, and other valuable artifacts of Dharmadeb O Radha Krishna temple in Basail union under Sirajdakhin upazila of Munshiganj.
The incident took place late Sunday night, confirmed temple General Secretary Babu Dilip Mondol.
Temple caretaker Saraswati Baroi said: “I closed the temple gates and went home at around 7pm last night. When I came back the following morning, I saw that the windows had been broken and the idols vandalized. I immediately called everyone to the temple, and soon police and leaders of political parties came to examine the scene.”
Sirajdikhan police station sub-inspector (SI) Manzur Ahmed said: “A group of drug addicts have been going around committing such acts. We are trying to identify and apprehend them.”
