A six years old child has become a victim of rape in Harinakunda Upazila of Jhenaidah.
The incident took place on Friday in the upazila’s Kapashati village.
Locals caught the accused Asif, son of Ayub Ali of the same village and gave him to the police.
The victim is admitted in the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital at the moment.
The victim’s mother said Asif took her daughter to a nearby jungle and raped her while the victim was blindfolded. She wants exemplary punishment of the criminal.
Dr Apurba Kumar Saha of the hospital said: “This is a case of rape, there will be tests carried out, of the victim. The details can be said after the test results.”
Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Shailkupa circle) Tarek Al Mehedi said: “We have confirmation about the news of the rape. We will take necessary actions as soon as the victim’s family files a complaint.”
