A clash ensued on Tuesday morning between the workers of Barapukuria Coal Mine Company and the police when the law enforcers intervened during the third day of their indefinite strike.
Coal mine authorities have claimed that seven of their staff have sustained injuries while the protesting workers have claimed 8 –10 of their own have been injured.
Two police officers have been injured in the clash.
The workers and staff of Barapukuria Coal Mine Company were protesting, wanting their 13-point demand met.
During this time, roads were blocked as the protesting workers took to the streets and assembled in front of the main gate with torches and sticks.
The Executive Officer of Parbatipur upazila Rehanul Haque later sat in discussion with the coal mine authority.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Fulbaria Health Complex.
