03: 38pm- Returning Officer Yunus Ali says: “Election Commission has cancelled voting of centre No 278 in Lobonchora after finding allegations of vote rigging.”

02: 30pm- Monju’s supporter Rejaul Islam says: “Nearly 30 people could not cast their votes at Khulna Aliya Madrasa centre.”

02:00pm- Talking to the Dhaka Tribune at Khulna Aliya Madrasa polling cere, Election Commission observer Mithun Kumar Roy says the election is under way peacefully.

01: 30pm- Wishing anonymity, an official of the Election Commission tells the Dhaka Tribune that one of their observers was assaulted by some unidentified people at Nurani Bahumukhi Madrasa Biddaloy polling centre around 9:50am.

01: 00pm- BNP's mayor candidate Monju tells the Dhaka Tribune: “My agents were driven out from at least 30 polling centres.”

12:46pm- Voting suspended at Fatema Hgh School and Hijolnagar Secondary School, returning officers say.

11:39am- A female voter at PTI polling centre claims that Awami League supporters snatched away ballot paper from her hand, our correspondent SM Shamsur Rahman reports.

11:43am- Monju' Media Coordinator GM Rasel claims: “Awami League supporters vandalized the polling centres at Zohra Khatun School, Boala Ideal Secondary School Moila Sonakota and Gani School after 10am.

“The attackers gave Joy Bangla slogan.”

11:29am- Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Humayun Kabir visits the polling centre at Boira High School under Ward No 17.

He instructs the members of law enforcement agencies to be strict with the voters carrying mobile phones in the centres. 

11:00am- Voters at PTI centre claim that they took more time to cast vote because of EVM system, reports our correspondent Asaduzzaman Sarder reports.

10:45am- Retuning Officer Yunus says: “No untoward incident has been reported yet.” 

10:40am- Out of five, four agents of BNP candidate Monju is present in the centre No 295 under Ward 31, our correspondent Fazlur Rahman Raju reports.

10:33am- BNP candidate Monju’s claims they are not being able to wear their cards because of fear. 

10:20am- Huge number of voters seen at the polling centre number 285 in Haji Abdul Malek Islamia College) under Ward 31. 

10:15am- Monju' Media Coordinator GM Rasel claims: “All their polling agents have been driven away from all the centres under Ward No 31.”

However, our correspondent Fazlur Rahman Raju reports that all the polling agents in centre No 283 (Shipyard School and College) under Ward 31 are present. 

Besides, Presiding Officer Sirajul Islam says: “All the agents in the centre have reported to me. No one is missing.”

10:00am- Presiding Officer Atiur Rahman says: “Polling agent Shirajul has claimed that he was beaten up by Awami League supporters.”

9:50am- Our correspondent Fazlur Rahman Raju says: “Monju’s polling agents were not present at the polling centre No 119 under Ward 22.

“A BNP polling agent named Shirajul Islam just entered the centre.”

9:48am- Former footballer Sheikh Mohammad Aslam cast his vote at a polling centre in Khulna College under Ward No 19, our correspondent Hedait Hossain reports.

9:38am- Awami League mayor candidate for Khuna City Corporation election Talukder Abdul Khaleque visits BK Union Institute.

Khaleque requests the Presiding Officer Tarif Uddin Ahmed to repair the fans which are not working at the polling centre, our correspondent Fazlur Rahman Raju.

9:20am- Voters’ presence increasing at the polling centres, our correspondent SM Shamsur Rahman reports.

He says: “Elderly women are having difficulties in casting votes using the EVM [Electronic Voting Machine] system.”

9:05am- Nazrul Islam Monju calims BNP polling agents being driven away from all polling centres in Khulna.

8:50am- BNP mayor candidate for Khulna City Corporation polls Nazrul Islam Monju casts vote at a polling centre in Rahima Government Primary School, our correspondent SM Shamsur Rahman reports.

8:45am- Presiding Officer Ataur Rahman tells the Dhaka Tribune: “CCTV camera has not been installed at Pioneer Girl's High School.”


Earlier on Monday, Returning Officer Yunus Ali told the Dhaka Tribune that CCTV camera was installed at Pioneer Girl's High School.


8:45am- Our correspondent Fazlur Rahman Raju says: “CCTV cameras have been installed in three risky polling centres.”

The centres are Government BL College (Arts building) in Ward No 6, Pioneer Girl's High School in War No 22 and Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) in Ward No 27.

8:40am- Presence of BNP and Awami League leaders near the polling centres is less, our correspondent Fazlur Rahman Raju reports.

8:05am- Awami League mayor candidate for Khuna City Corporation election Talukder Abdul Khaleque casts vote at Government Pioneer Girls High School.

Talking about the allegation of BNP polling agents being driven away from centres, He says: “It is their internal matter. We believe the election will be fair.”

8:00am- Khulna City Corporation election begins. Voters start casting their votes.


The city has 4,93,107 voters – 2,48,986 men and 2,44,527 women – in 31 wards.

Border Guard Bangladesh troopers, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ansar and VDP members have been deployed to ensure law and order while 49 executive magistrates and 10 judicial magistrates are also on duty.

Three to four platoons of BGB troopers have been kept as a reserve force.
