The protesters held the demonstration under the banner of “Bangabandhur Adarsha o Muktijuddher Chetonai Biswashi Progotishil Shikkhok Shomaj.” On Tuesday, Enamul’s followers took up positions in front of the vehicle depot and locked it as a part of the protests they announced after declaring that Farzana Islam had breached University Act-1973 as well as statutes of syndicate management. When Farzana’s followers reached the location, they requested that the lock be opened. Upon refusal, the two groups exchanged heated words before a scuffle ensued. There has been unrest in the campus following the clash.

Later the same day, the university administration formed a three-member committee to probe the incident. Teachers supporting Enamul then called another blockade program questioning the neutrality of the probe committee. The demonstration disrupted academic and administrative activities on campus. Spokesperson of teachers supporting the former JU vice chancellor, Associate Professor of Philosophy department Farid Ahmed said: “Six teachers belonging to our faction were attacked by teachers supporting the incumbent vice chancellor. “The probe committee tasked with investigating the matter is being headed by another supporter of the VC. We question the neutrality of the committee and demand that a judicial probe committee be formed instead.” Prof Farid added: “The VC has called a meeting to cover up the incident, but we boycotted it.” A rift began to form between two groups of pro-Awami League teachers since February 15, when Farzana Islam was reinstated as University VC, with teachers aligned with Enamul on the other side. After Farzana became VC, the Deans and Proctorial bodies of two faculties were changed, along with the Provosts of nine residential halls.
