Bus owners have postponed for a week a strike called at Barishal’s Nathulabad bus terminal. Buses started operating as usual on all routes from Friday morning. The strike included 15 internal routes as well as long-distance routes. The decision to halt the strike was made on Thursday night, according to Aftab Hossain, President of the Barishal Bus Owners’ Association.

He said: “Buses have been taking the route to Satla of Ujirpur upazila from the Barishal bus terminal for a long time. However, on Wednesday, some local miscreants obstructed regular operations and wanted to extort money from us. In retaliation, the workers called an indefinite strike.” The administration assured them that the issue will be taken care of. Hence, the strike was postponed. Aftab Hossain said if the issue is not solved within seven days, the strike will be called again.
