Tangail fire service comes to the rescue of dog

In an uplifting turn of events, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence saved a dog from certain death in Tangail. The stray dog fell into a septic tank in the Pashchim Akurtakur neighbourhood of the city on Tuesday evening. Local people became alerted of the animal’s plight and made failed attempts to rescue it. The local fire service officials arrived at the scene after being contacted by the locals. The dog was rescued around 7pm, following a 30-minute effort. The owner of the septic tank, Zahidul Islam Johny told the correspondent: “We mounted a rescue operation, but failed to get the dog out. So I called the fire service myself. “They arrived at the scene quickly and rescued the dog. We wholeheartedly laud the fire service men for doing a marvelous job. We, the locals, will remember them for this good deed.” Fire service official Md Abu Hanif said: “We dispatched a fire service unit on the scene as soon as the locals contacted us, and rescued the dog after half an hour’s effort. “The septic tank was deep, so we had to make a serious effort to get the animal out alive.” Fire service officials of Bangladesh are well known for their love of rescuing animals in distress. They have rescued cattle, sparrows, puppies and snakes in all corners of the country.
