Deceased Tampaco worker identified after 5 months

The deceased was identified as Mamun, 30. He was the son of Mostafizur Rahman from Chittagong’s Sandwip upazila. Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) authorities handed over the corpse to his family on Friday. Some 36 bodies out of 39, who were killed in the fire, have been identified as of yet. Three remaining unidentified bodies are being kept at the DMCH morgue. On September 10 last year, a boiler explosion set fire to the food and cigarette packaging factory of Tampaco Foils Limited in Tongi. The three-storey factory building was burned down to the ground after most of the building collapsed in the fire. Police’s forensic department conducted a number of tests to identify the dead bodies. Afterwards, two murder cases were filed accusing the factory owner and former BNP lawmaker Makbul Hossain and his wife Sajeda Pervin.
