Man, sister-in-law found hanging in Jhenidah

A young man and his sister-in-law have reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves with a single rope in the village of Purbatetulia in Jhenidah Sadar upazila. The deceased were identified as Belal Hossain, 30, son of Mantu Miah, and his sister-in-law Koly Khatun, 15, daughter of Shakhawat Mollah of the village. Police recovered their bodies on Wednesday morning and sent them to the morgue for autopsy. Quoting locals, Narkelbaria police camp OC Waliuzzaman said Belal married Koly's sister Pinky around six years ago and the couple have a two-year-old son. However, the man developed an extramarital relationship with Koly, who eloped with him recently. The matter went to arbitration two weeks ago, and the arbitrators asked Belal to leave Koly and return to his wife. Apparently failing to accept the decision, the duo hung themselves from a tree using a single rope sometime on Tuesday night, said Waliuzzaman.
