Awami League leader, two others of associate bodies killed in 3 districts

A local leader of ruling Awami League and two activists its associate bodies have been killed in three districts, reports UNB. In Comilla, Mohammad Monir, 48, former president of the Jagatpur union unit of Awami League, was shot by some unidentified miscreants in front a school at Vatipara village in Titas upazila on Saturday around 8:30pm, said Manzur Kader Bhuiyan, inspector (investigation) of Titas Police Station. He was rushed to Gauripur Upazila Health Complex in Daudkandi upazila, where on-duty doctors declared him dead. Local sources said Monir was killed due to a feud within the party. In Khagrachhari twon, Md Rasel, a local activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student front of Awami League, was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals in the PDB area Saturday night. Rasel, 18, is the son of Md Nur Hossain of Kadamtali Harinathpur in the town. Quoting witnesses, Officer-in-Charge of Khagrachhari sadar police station Md Shahadat Hossain Tito said some unidentified miscreants swooped on Rasel around 8:00pm and stabbed him indiscriminately. Rasel succumbed to his injuries on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, the OC added. In Chittagong, miscreants shot dead Mohammad Harun, 35, an activist of Awami League’s youth front Jubo League, at East Bhujpur Mirerkhilbari in Fatikchhari upazila early Sunday. After receiving information from locals, police recovered the body from a drain near the deceased's house and sent it to a hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Bhujpur police station. “No one has been arrested as yet in this connection. Police are investigating the matter,” the official added.
