Police: Explosion in Bhaluka from gas cylinder

An explosion occurred from a gas cylinder on the third floor of a six-storey building in Masterbari area of Mymensingh’s Bhaluka, police said.
District Additional Superintendent of Police Joyeeta Shilpi confirmed the matter on Sunday.
Joyeeta Shilpi told the Dhaka Tribune: "The incident occurred due to the explosion of a gas cylinder from a kitchen. It was not a bomb blast or militant activity. "
She said police have recovered of the body of Touhid, who was killed in the incident, which was being sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Police said four youths used to stay in the flat where the explosion took place. The four were Masters students from Khulna University of Science and Technology (KUET).
They were in the last year of their academic degrees and were interning at a textile mill in Masterbari area.
One of them was killed while three others were injured in the incident.
The sound of the explosion alerted locals in Masterbari area. The explosion left the third floor – where the four lived – completely damaged.
Touhid hailed from Bogra. The injured are: Shahin from Sirajganj, Hafiz from Naogaon, and Dipto Sarkar from Magura. They were sent to Dhaka after being admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
