Rail communication between Sylhet and rest of the country has been restored after almost 17 hours following the derailment of a train in Moulvibazar.
The train services resumed around 4:30pm on Friday, said Sreemangal Railway Station’s Assistant Station Master MdShakhawat Hossain.
Rail communication remained suspended since 1am on Friday after 11 compartments of “Upobon Express” veered off the tracks at Sreemangalupazila’sSantgaon station.
Meanwhile, a five-member committee led by Chief Operating Superintendent (East Zone) Md Mia Jahan has been formed to investigate the accident.

Dhaka TribuneThe probe body was asked to submit its report in three days, station master Shakhawat said.
In the preliminary inquiry, it was found that breaking of the under-gear of the train led to the derailment.
Right before derailment, the train was on its course at full speed while the locomotive pilot was half asleep, said Bangladesh Railway Sylhet zone's Assistant Engineer MdMujibur Rahman.
Scores of passengers were injured in the accident.
State Minister for Finance MA Mannan, who was on the train, was unhurt.
