Mayor Miru sent to jail

Judge Morshed Alam of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order on Monday afternoon. Investigation Officer Monir Hossain, inspector of Shahjadpur police station, produced the Shahjadpur mayor before the court with a seven-day remand plea. The court asked the investigation officer to submit case documents so that they could decide on Miru’s remand. Miru was arrested from Shyamoli in Dhaka on Sunday night. Journalist Shimul was hit by a bullet fired by Shahjadpur Mayor Halimul Haque Miru on February 2, during a clash between the supporters of Chhatra League President of Shahjadpur Government College unit Bijoy Mahmud and the supporters of the Mayor’s brother Pintu. Miru claimed that bullets were fired from both sides, but the police in primary investigation have found that the bullets were fired only from the mayor’s gun.
