Awami League leader loses legs to landmine blast

A local Awami League leader lost both his legs in a landmine explosion in Chakdala area of Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban on Saturday morning. The incident occurred when Badiul Alam, an organizational secretary for a Naikhongchari ward-level Awami League unit, for reasons yet to be ascertained, went into the no man's land near pillar number 42 of the Bangladesh-Myanmar border around 11am. Badiul was taken to Cox's Bazaar Sadar Hospital for treatment, according to Chakdala police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Sheikh.
