Police have recovered the body of a Dhaka University (DU) student from Boralu area of Shitalakkhya River in Rupganj upazila, Narayanganj. The deceased has been identified as Parvez Ahmed Joy, 19, son of Joynal Abedin of Boralu village and a second-year student of DU’s Political Science Department. Rupganj police station Inspector Sazzad Roman said locals had informed police after spotting Parvez’s floating body in the river on Monday morning. Later, the body was recovered around 9:30am and then sent to Narayanganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Rupganj police OC Ismail Hossain. Police suspect Parvez could have been strangulated on Sunday night and later his body was dumped in the river. Parvez used to work with a local NGO named 'Meghna Workers Cooperative Samity', a micro-credit financial organisation. Police, meanwhile, detained three employees of the NGO in this connection. They are Manager Shohag, Assistant Manager Jahangir and Field Officer Sharmin Akhtar. Quoting family members, the OC said Parvez left home on Sunday evening to submit the daily financial statement and money to the NGO authorities and did not return.
