Rohingya leader shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A Rohingya man has been gunned down by unidentified miscreants at a refugee camp in Ukhiya. Mohammad Yusuf, 35, leader (majhi) of number 2 block of Tajnimar Khola Rohingya camp in Thaingkhali was murdered on Friday night. A gang of miscreant numbering 20-25 opened fire on Yusuf, leaving him critically injured, said Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Ukhyia police station. Yusuf was rushed to the Red Crescent hospital at the camp where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, a gang of miscreant attempted to shoot another leader Arif Ullah of Balukhali camp 2. Later, local Rohingyas chased the miscreants and caught one Mohammad Alam with a pistol, added the OC. Rohingyas allege that a group of Rohingyas opposing repatriation are carrying out the attacks on the leaders of the camps.
