Barisal teenager surrenders after killing classmate

A 15-year-old boy of Barisal, who allegedly killed his classmate by hitting him with a bat while playing cricket on Thursday, has surrendered before the court. The accused Mirazul Islam Miraz, a resident of Ward 9 of the district, surrendered before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Faruk. The court sent Miraz to Jessore Juvenile Correction Centre rejecting his bail plea. According to the police, Miraz hit his classmate Abir Robi Das, a 14-year-old boy of Dalit community, with a cricket bat during an altercation in Fallpatti area, Barisal. Abir was rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. The next day DMCH doctors declared Abir dead. Both Abir and Miraz were grade VIII students of AK School in Barisal.
