Eight held for leaking Munshiganj primary school questions

Police in Munshiganj detained eight people on charges of leaking question papers for final exams in 119 primary schools on Tuesday night. Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station SM Alamgir Hussein told the Dhaka Tribune that raids were conducted after postponing annual examinations of classes 2, 3 and 4. “Upon direction from the deputy commissioner, we conducted separate drives in hostels around the city and detained the eight suspects. All of them are students of Government Harganga College.” Hussein also said that the detainees Mustafizur Rahman, Kamrul, Rafiqul Islam, Kajol, Sakhawat Hossain, Rahim, Ratan and Riyad were being interrogated for their involvement in the question leak. Deputy Commissioner Saila Farzana said that a three-member probe committee led by Additional District Magistrate AKM Shawkat Alam had been created to investigate the matter. The schools in question were asked to arrange retest for the postponed exams with new questions, she added. Furthermore, district Primary Education Officer Panchanan Bala said that news of the question leak came from an email sent to the deputy commissioner. A three-member probe committee has been formed, led by Assistant Education Officer Ferdousi Begum, Bala said in a statement. Exams at 486 other schools in five upazilas were held normally across the district, she added.
