Bagerhat BSCIC city losing life

According to local sources, traders have been suffering a lot due to lack of electricity, shortage of pure water, scarcity of raw materials as well as due to bad condition of roads.
After suffering these problems for long time now several business persons are going close their business.
The industrial zone was established on the bank of Doratan River in the district town in 1995 on 22 acres of land, said the sources.
A total of 44 plots were built and provided those to several persons. Of them, 16 factories are in run-down situation. Traders are apprehending that these business establishment would be closed any time.
Md Mostafizur Rahman, owner of Natural Fiber Square Foam Industry, said: “To get opportunities from the government we took the plots in BSCIC industrial area. But now due to the electricity problem, shortage of water and bad condition of roads, the industrial zone lost its life.”
He urged the government to take immediate measures to solve the problems.
Md Shahajahan Mina, president of Bagerhat Chamber of Commerce Industries Limited, said: “Due to lack of space and other problems, we cannot set up new business structures in the area.
“We informed Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner and authorities concerned to solve the problem.”
