Gopalganj teenager sent to jail after raping fourth grader

A teenager has been arrested and sent to jail for raping a student of the fourth grade at Jikari village in Gopalganj's Kashiani upazila. Prakash Kumar Bose, sub-inspector of Kashiani police station, said: “The main accused of the case Prosenjit Biswas, 19, has been arrested and sent to jail via court. The rape survivor has been examined her statement recorded in court.” Her father filed a case against Prosenjit Biswas, 19, Biplab Sarker, 20, Akhil Sarker, 21, Chandan Biswas, 23, and Shamol Shil, 20 on Saturday. According to the case statement, Prosenjit dated the girl over the past one year. He called the girl on Friday and asked her to visit him. When they met, he forced her into a secluded area near the Jikabari community clinic, where he proceeded to rape her with the help of his aides. After committing the heinous crime, Prosenjit abandoned her near Kumaria Bazar of the area and quickly departed after pledging to marry her. Afterwards, the rape survivor confided her ordeal to another woman who informed the her family, in turn prompting the police to take action.
