The border forces of Bangladesh and India held a joint cultural programme on Monday in a bid to curb border-crimes and to maintain peace. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and its Indian counterpart Border Security Force (BSF) organised the programme at Agartala along the Sonamura-Comilla border, adjacent to the 2082 pillar.
BSF and BGB commandants briefed reporters from India and Bangladesh at zero-point.
Ganesh Kumar, 145th battalion Commandant led the BSF team and was greeted by BGB 10th battalion Commandant Golam Sarowar.
“Security forces of both the nations have been instructed to work hand-in-hand for curbing transnational crime. We are mutually cooperating to abide by these instructions. Our aim is to maintain peace and combat criminal activities,” Kumar said at the programme.
Addressing the program, Sarowar on a similar note said: “BSF and BGB have similar intentions of curbing transnational crimes, specifically human trafficking and drug smuggling. We need the cooperation of the locals and this is why we’ve organized this programme.”
Civilians from both sides of the border were present at the programme.
