Demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrators of her son's death, deceased Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury's mother has started a hunger strike on the campus of Chittagong University (CU).
A year into her son’s mysterious death, Jaheda Amin Chowdhury began her strike at Bangabandhu Chattar around 9am on Monday.
However, later in the day, a group of doctors and nurses from CU medical centre rushed to the spot with an ambulance and forcibly picked her up claiming she was not well.
Jaheda got off the ambulance in front of the medical centre and went to the Shaheed Minar on campus around 11am to resume her fast unto death.

Wrapping herself with a white shroud, she was seen holding a piece of white cloth, which had the names of the two alleged killers of Diaz written on it, and her demand for their expulsion from the university.
The two students allegedly to have killed Diaz are Anwar Jamshed and Alamgir Tipu.
Diaz, who was the joint secretary of Chhatra League CU unit and assistant secretary of Chhatra League's central committee, was found hanging from the ceiling in his flat near the CU campus on November 20 last year.

Police have yet to determine the cause of Diaz's death, but his family alleges that his body was hung from the ceiling after he was murdered.
Witnesses said Diaz’s legs were seen touching the bed, which contradicts the suspicion that it might be suicide.
Diaz’s family and fellow CU Chhatra League members have claimed that Diaz was murdered by rivals over a tender bidding issue at the university.
Diaz's mother alleged that a teacher who holds an administrative post at CU and a Chhatra League leader in the university were the masterminds behind the alleged killing.
