Joint secretary’s car runs over child in Gazipur

A child has been killed as a vehicle of a joint secretary of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division ran over her in Pirujali Sobur Marrket area in Gazipur. The deceased is Jannat, daughter of Jamal Uddin of Tangail. Gazipur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain told Dhaka Tribune: “Hotapara police outpost In-Charge Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hossain took Joint Secretary Md Shahadat Hossain and his car to the police station after the accident.” Pirujali Union Parishad Ward 2 member Rafiqul Islam said: “Joint Secretary Shahadat visited Humayun Ahmed’s Nuhash Polli along with his friends on Saturday. “The accident took place when they were returning from there around 6:15pm.” ICT Division Public Relations Office Md Abu Naser said: “Shahadat Hossain is the director of the project on computer and language training laboratory at different schools under the division.” Confirming the accident, he said: “The joint secretary’s car was slightly damaged in the accident but he is fine.”
