Police chase leads to drug dealer drowning

Khokon Prokash, son of Joinal Abedin, was a resident of Karimpur area. Local sources said police conducted a drive in Karimpur area around 8pm on Sunday. Sensing the presence of police, Khokon tried to escape and at one stage he jumped into a pond. Later, he was rescued in critical condition and taken to Begumganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Begumganj police Officer-in-Charge Sajedur Rahman Sajid told the Dhaka Tribune that Khokon was accused in several cases, including robbery and drug dealing.
