Two-year-old discovered with rare disease

A medical board has been formed for the treatment of Shakiba, a two-year-old girl from Bibhishon village of Radhanagar union in Gomostapur upazila of Chapainawabganj district, who is suffering from a rare disease since her birth. Shakiba, daughter of farmer Abdus Sattar, has a rare condition that causes her right arm to swell. As she is getting older, her right arm is becoming heavier and swelling more day by day. Her parents took her to Rajshahi and Dhaka for treatment but no to no avail. An abnormal lump has developed in her body from her right shoulder to her belly, said Shakiba's mother Sabina Begum. As Shakiba's parents are unable to afford their daughter's treatment, the government has come forward to help. Earlier on September 20, Shakiba was admitted to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital where her treatment ongoing with government funding, said its Civil Surgeon Dr Kazi Shamim Hossain. Her father has urged everyone to pray for a quick recovery while doctors are trying their best to combat this rare disease.
