Rohingya youth beaten to death in Ukhiya

A Rohingya youth has been beaten to death by a group of Rohingya refugees at a slum in Ukhiya upazila over suspicion that he was a child kidnapper. According to local sources, Mohammad Rafiq, son of late Ali Ahmed from Handikhola village in Myanmar's Rakhine state, arrived at the recently established Rohingya slum beside Kutupalong Television relay station some time on Saturday. As Rafiq did not find any of his acquaintances there, he had to face fierce interrogation from the other refugees. Moreove, a rumour surfaced that a suspected child kidnapper was being quizzed at the slum. At one point, a group of rowdy youths gave Rafiq a serious beating, leaving him gravely injured. The youth succumbed to the injuries later in the night. Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Khair confirmed the news.
