Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have recovered 130,000 pieces of cattle fattening tablets from Hili border in Dinajpur district.
A team of the border guards had recovered the consignment of cattle fattening Practin tablets during a drive at Muharhapara area in the early hours of Sunday, said BGB’s Bashudebpur Camp Commander Nayek Subedar Rajani Kanta Barman.
Manufactured in India, Practin is banned in Bangladesh as its use fattens cows quickly at the expense of damaging the animal’s liver and kidney.
The consignment of the smuggled Indian tablets was found inside three abandoned plastic bags, said the BGB official, adding that the smugglers managed to flee from the spot leaving the bags behind.
The seized tablets are worth Tk39 lakh.
