People suffer as hundreds of cattle yet to be buried

Though 11 days have already passed after the cyclone cattle breeders did not bury the death cattle properly yet which causing serious environment pollution in the areas.
Locals said due to excessive rain, thousands of cattle including cows, buffaloes and sheep, died at Jahaijja char, Tengar char, Char Nur Islam and Char Nongalia in the upazila from November 7 to November 9.
Cattle breeders and cowboys said nearly 150 cattle traders in the district used to rear their cattle in several chars in the district. These traders have built mud port in the chars to keep their cattle safe during the rainy season. But this time, cattle owners could not bring back their cattle locality due to inclement weather and lack of transportation facilitates.
During visits to several chars, this correspondent found that decomposed cattle scattered at chars causing odour in the chars area.
Cattle farmers alleged that rest of the cattle which are still alive are going to die as they did not get medicines from livestock department.
Cattale traders – Nur Nabi Azad, Gofran Uddin, and Belal Uddin - alleged that they had to incur a big loss to death of their cattle.
When contacted District Livestock official Md Ziaur Rahman said: “We already have heard the news about the death of cattle, but we could not go to chars as communication between chars and mainland is not smooth. We are trying to collect news from journalists.”
