A Dhaka court has ordered that Ekushey Television (ETV) Chairman Abdus Salam be interrogated at jail gate within five working days.
The court rejected Salam's bail and police petition for remanding him in a case filed under "Women and Children Repression Prevention Act" and "Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act" with the Cantonment police.
The case was filed on November 10 last year. The ETV boss has been shown arrested in this case after he was picked up by the police on January 6 in a pornography case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sabrina Ali passed the order after Investigation Officer Shakhawat Hossain produced the ETV chairman before the court pleading for a five-day remand.
On January 6, detectives arrested Abdus Salam from his office in a case filed under the Pornography Act 2012 for broadcasting a false report about a woman in a programme named Ekusher Chokh two months ago.
According to the case, accused Shahjalal had sexual intercourse forcibly with the plaintiff on September 20 last year. Later, he compelled the plaintiff having sex several times threatening her of circulating naked pictures.
It stated that Shahjalal circulated naked pictures at Manikdee Bazar area on October 4. Later, ETV's Ekusher Chokh programme moderator Elias Hossain broadcast a false report about the plaintiff on November 6.
