A Dhaka court has granted five days of remand to BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in a case filed with Shahbagh police station for attempt to murder MP Chhabi Biswas.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Hossain granted the remand after police produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea on Friday afternoon.
The BNP leader was arrested by the Detective Branch of Police from his residence on Thursday night.
BNP leaders and activists clashed with Chhatra League activists near Bakshibazar makeshift court ahead of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearance in the court in two corruption cases on December 24. At least 30 people including AL MP Chhabi Biswas were injured in the clash.
Miscreants also torched the lawmaker’s car parked in front of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Two cases were filed against 150 leaders and activists of the BNP and its youth and student wings in connection with the clash.
