Detectives have found that the criminals involved in Nasir murder in Bhasantek are members of a gang led by a listed criminal, Ibrahim Khalil.
The information was unearthed after detectives interrogated Sharif alias Chokkha, who was arrested recently in the case, during his five-day remand.
DB Deputy Commissioner (west) Sheikh Nazmul Alam told the Dhaka Tribune: “We came to know that the accused are the gang members of listed criminal Ibrahim Khalil.
A listed criminal in Kafrul area, Khalil came out of the Dhaka Central Jail after securing bail on May 16 this year. He later fled the country.
On Friday, Nasir was beaten to death in the capital’s Bhashantek area for reasons that are not yet known. The case has received much attention because of the widely divergent accounts made about the motive for the killing.
On the day of the murder, Chokkha was reportedly seen with the murdered man. Locals later reported seeing Nasir being beaten with metal pipes by eight or nine unidentified men. He succumbed to his wounds in hospital.
