The government is set to take stern action against illegal fertiliser traders for selling adulterated fertilisers.
The Agriculture Ministry has decided to operate mobile court drives, file cases and strengthen the field level monitoring system aiming to stop unauthorised fertiliser traders from selling adulterated fertilisers during the upcoming Boro season.
The ministry has already sent letter to the director general of the Department of Agriculture Extension and all the deputy commissioners across the country, asking them to take necessary steps in this regard.
The letter, which was issued last Sunday, requested the high officials to create public awareness through upazila nirbahi officers.
The high officials were also asked to punish illegal fertiliser traders and stop selling of adulterated fertilisers across the country.
The letter, signed by the ministry’s Deputy Chief Sheikh Badiul Alam, said the ministry now fear that trading or selling of such adulterated fertilisers may hamper vegetables and Boro production in the upcoming season.
