A Dhaka court has placed four persons, including a sub-inspector (SI) of the Special Branch (SB) of police, for quizzing them over the recovery of an illegal firearm from their possession.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Anwar Sadat passed the order on Thursday, after the Investigation Officer of the case DB Inspector Kazi Shahan Shah produced the arrestees before it with a five-day remand plea.
The arrestees are SB SI Mohammad Asaduzzaman. The three others were Saiful Islam, 30, Mahmudul Hasan, 24, and Moshiur Rahman, 26.
Earlier on Wednesday, RAB members arrested them along with an illegal foreign 9mm pistol, one magazine, three bullets from Uttara in the capital.
On receiving intelligence, RAB officials arrested them from an under-construction building in Sector 6 of Uttara around 2.30pm.
Investigators discovered that Asaduzzaman is an SB officer assigned to the Uttara area of the capital. Asaduzzaman is reportedly involved in the area’s Chhatra League politics.
The three other arrestees, also from Uttara, studied at Uttara College. They are all involved in illegal arms dealing, according to RAB officials.
