A Munshiganj court has sent Omar Faruq Limon, son of the Pinak 6 owner also an accused in launch capsize case, to jail.
Munshiganj senior judicial magistrate passed the order when police produced Omar Faruq Limon before the court on Saturday afternoon.
The court fixed Monday for hearing on a petition seeking a seven day remand for Omar.
“Omar is the number 3 accused in the case filed by the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) over the launch capsize incident,” Lauhajang Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tofazzal Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune.
In a special drive, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member arrested Omar Faruq in connection with Pinak-6 launch capsize incident from a house in the city’s Khilkhet area on early Friday.
Omar was the supervisor of the sunken launch.
Following the capsize, Mawa transport inspector Jahangir filed a murder case with Louhajang police station against six people, including Pinak 6 owner AB Siddique and his son Omar.
