Trial of ATM Shamsuzzaman’s eldest son murder case to end soon

The trial of the murder of noted actor ATM Shamsuzzaman’s eldest son Kamaluzzman Kabir is about to be completed soon, two years after the murder.

The Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal 1 has completed recording the witness depositions and the argument hearing has began at the court.

Judge Shahed Nuruddin fixed August 21 for final argument hearing and following that hearing, the court will set a date for delivering the verdict.

“The final argument will be completed in the next date. Then the judge will fix date for delivering the verdict,” Special Public Prosecutor Abu Abdullah Bhuyain told the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.

According to the case statements, a total of 14 prosecution witnesses out of 24, including ATM Shamsuzzaman himself, gave depositions before the court.

Earlier on March 13, 2012, Kabir was stabbed to death by his younger brother ATM Khalequzzaman Kushol at their residence in the capital’s Sutrapur.

ATM Shamsuzzman filed a case with Sutrapur police station following the murder.

On June 25, 2012, police submitted the charge sheet, while the court indicted Kushol on October 31, the same year.

On January 30, 2013, ATM Shamsuzzaman gave deposition before the court against his own son Kushol.

“It was the most unfortunate incident that my entire family had witnessed,” ATM Shamsuzzaman said in his deposition.
