Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) yesterday called upon the country’s young generation to raise their voices against all sorts of corruption in order to help build a peaceful world.
“You, the youth, can contribute to developing a peaceful society, free from corruption, injustice, repression and inequality, and create a non-violent world for all,” said TIB Deputy Executive Director Sumaya Khayer.
Sumaya made the observation while addressing a human chain organised by Dhaka Youth Engagement and Support (DhakaYES) and TIB on the Dhaka University campus, marking the International Youth Day.
“The government should increase the young generation’s social involvement. Tougher laws should be framed to stop drug addiction, pornography, frustration and mental disorders,” she continued.
Besides, DU Pro-VC Nasreen Ahmed (Academic) said: “The youth can give us a better life, break every obstacle and make a corruption free country.”
She urged the government to take the initiatives necessary to properly develop the mental health of the country’s youth.
Among others, TIB Programme Manager Zahidul Islam and senior members of “Dhaka YES” were present.
