Three years have passed after two cases were filed in connection with an accident that killed internationally acclaimed film director Tareque Masud and renowned journalist and photography director Misuk Munier but still there was no tangible headway.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Ghior area of Manikganj on August 13, 2011.
Driver Jamir Uddin responsible for the accident was arrested in the face of huge outcry from the civil society and media.
The arrestee regularly appears before the court, advocate Clerk Gurudas Mandal of Manikganj court said.
Of the two cases, police lodged one with the district and session judge’s court soon after the accident.
While the other one was filed by by Mishuk’s wife Monjuly Kazi case against the driver and the bus owner with the district court for compensation. This case is now under trial, said Gurudas.
After the arrest, bus driver Jamir, however, claimed himself to be innocent and blamed the driver of the micro-bus that was carrying Tareque and Misuk, for the accident.
The rest three killed in the accident are Tareque’s production crew Wasim, Jamal and micro-bus driver Mostafizur Rahman.
