Victim’s nephew testifies against Maulana Subhan

A prosecution witness yesterday said war crimes accused Maulana Abdus Subhan and his accomplices had confined and killed his uncle after severely torturing him for helping pro-liberation people during the Liberation War.

Nizamuddin Khan, 61, the nephew of martyr Kolimuddin Khan, testified at the International Crimes Tribunal 2 as the 19th prosecution witness. He is from village Char Tarapur Tatipara under Pabna sadar police station.

Nizam said Subhan used to visit the razakar camp at Dublia Bazar in Sadulyapur union. The collaborators used to loot the houses of Hindu people of Dublia village. “My uncle Kolimuddin Khan, a retired army member, had tried to protect those Hindus and helped the freedom fighters at that time. Everybody knew that. A day after he was captured by Subhan and other razakars, another uncle Noimuddin Khan and I went out to look for him and reached Kuchiamara Kali temple.

“There we heard the noise of a white jeep. Hiding in a bush, we saw Subhan and other razakars taking my uncle inside the temple. Some moments later, we heard gunshots and they left the temple. When we went inside, we found my uncle’s dead body.”

Nizam said his uncle had been abducted in the first week of September, 1971 from Dublia Bazar while he was having tea at a tea stall. Subhan and some armed razakars, including camp commander Samad, had abducted him.
