HC: Stop filling up of Madaripur pond

The High Court has ordered authority concerned to take necessary steps within 24 hours to stop the filling up of a more than century old pond in Madaripur. The court also imposed status quo for two months on the filling up work, reports BSS. A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order on Monday following a writ petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). The court asked Madaripur deputy commissioner, superintendant of police, officer in-charge of local police station and other officials to comply with its order.
