A Dhaka court has ordered to investigate the derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu, the president and the prime minister by a private university teacher.
The court also fixed July 16 for submitting the investigation report with it.
The court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Atiqur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday, after recording the plaintiff's deposition in a defamation case.
Advocate Abdul Malek alias Moshiur Malek, president of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the case against two people.
Two accused are Rajib Hasnat Shakil, lecturer of Law department on Northern University Campus Khulna and the Campus In- charge Dr Anowarul Kabir.
According to the case statement, Rajib made derogatory comments on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during delivering lecture in his class in January.
“A student and also the witness of this case, Md Nayeem, opposed his remarks and protested the issue.
The university authority expelled him following the protest,” the case statement added.
Later, Nayeem called a press conference in Khulna press club on June 29. The daily Janakhantha published the report on June 30.
On the basis of the media report, Advocate Abdul Malek filed the defamation suit.
