MP Rana's bail plea rejected

The High Court has rejected bail petition by ruling Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in the freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case. Amanur had moved the bail plea with the HC following rejection by the Tangail’s First Additional District and Sessions Judge on September 26. The HC bench of justices Md Abu Zafor Siddique and Khizir Ahmed Choudhury rejected the bail plea considering it 'not pressed.' After the bullet-hit body of Tangail Awami League leader Faruk was found in front of his house in Tangail town, in January 2013, his wife filed the murder case. Police pressed charge sheet against the lawmaker including 14 men in connection with the killing later. Amanur surrendered before the Tangail court last month and was sent to the jail. To get the bail, his lawyers argued before the HC on the ground that the lawmaker was not named in the FIR. He surrendered showing respect on law and will not flee if granted bail, as he is a respected lawmaker.
