The High Court has ordered the authority concerned to block unregistered SIM cards of all mobile operating companies.
The bench of Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Justice Khurshid Alam Sarker passed the order on Tuesday afternoon following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer JR Khan Robin.
In the writ, the petitioner stated that the government is losing revenue for the use of unregistered SIM cards. On the other hand, criminals are conducting crimes using the unregistered SIM cards.
BTRC along with its chairman, Home secretary, Posts and Telecommunication secretary and the CEO’s of Grameenphone, Banglalink, Teletalk, Airtel, Robi and Citycell have been asked to implement the order without any delay.
