A case was filed with sadar police station on Sunday against 300 unknown people on charge of attacking police personnel.
Gopalganj sadar police station SI Monzel Ahmed filed the case which states that an incident of chase and counter chase took place between the residents of Miapara area and nearby Ghosherchar village on the day over establishing dominance, and the unruly men vandalised some shops in Chourangi area.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Protesting the incident, the affected businessmen called a two-day strike and brought out procession in support of it, from which the protesters beat up the SI and vandalised his motorcycle.
Gopalganj sadar thana OC (investigation) Md Selim Reza confirmed the case, saying, “However, the matter was resolved in the conference room of the SP.”
At least 15 people including four cops were injured in a clash between two groups of Miapara and Ghosher Char on Saturday over a trifling matter.
Locals said, on March 27, few residents of Ghoser Char beat Rezwan over a trifling matter, a resident of Miapara.
Later, two groups locked into clash and a group of Ghosher Char damaged a few shops in the town.
Over the issue, another group of Miapara had attacked the Ghosher Char group.
