Sonali Bank filed a case yesterday with Dhaka’s first ever Money-Loan Court against the Hall-Mark chairman and its managing director.
Executive Officer of Ruposhi Bangla Branch of Sonali Bank Md Abdus Salam filed the fresh case in the afternoon against Chairman Jasmine Islam and Managing Director Tanvir Mahmud to realise Tk9.92 crore.
Judge Md Rabiuzzaman ordered the accused to submit a written statement by May 5 through their counsel.
With this one, Sonali Bank authorities have filed a total of 10 cases against Hall-Mark Group for the recovery of Tk72 crore in defaulted loans.
Abdus Salam said: “Sonali Bank will file 11 more cases against the MD, its chairman and other sister companies.”
On October 4, 2012, the ACC filed 11 cases against Hall-Mark’s owners and senior officials along with some Sonali Bank employees, in connection with the much-talked loan scam of
Tk3,500 crore.
Tanvir is now in jail while Jasmine was freed on bail.
