2 to die in Nafis murder case

A Dhaka Court has sentenced two accused in minor boy Nafis murder case to death.

Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 Judge Sajedur Rahman pronounced the verdict on Tuesday afternoon.

The convicts are Ali Hossain and Md Shafiq, both of them are absconding.

The court also acquitted Md Khalil from the case as his involvement was not proven.

On 21 February 2012, Nafis was abducted by the accused when he went to buy chocolates from a nearby shop. The kidnappers demanded Tk5 lakh as ransom.

Later, they killed the boy as his parents did not give the money.

Nafis’s grandfather Bacchu Miah filed a murder case with Keraniganj police station.

Sub-Inspector Shahdat Hossain submitted the charge sheet of the case on April 30.

Nafis, 6, was a playgroup student of Sonakanda Provati Bidyaniketon.
