The Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday questioned former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Chairman Engineer M Nurul Huda over corruption allegations.
ACC Deputy Director M Nasir Hossain questioned Abdul Mannan Khan for more than two hours, started from 8:30am, on allegations of amassing wealth illegally.
After the interrogation, the former state minister told reporters that he had responded to all queries made by anti-graft body and believed the commission would be satisfied with his answers.
“I will not comment further since the matter is now under inquiry. Truth will prevail at the end of the day,” he added.
Similarly, the Rajuk chairman was questioned by ACC Deputy Director Jatan Kumer Ray in connection to the commission’s inquiry against the irregularities made by former housing and public works secretary Khondaker Showkat Hossain.
The ACC is now probing allegations against Khondaker Showkat Hossain, now the secretary at expatriates welfare and overseas employment ministry, of acquiring different plots from Rajuk projects abusing power.
After the interrogation, Nurul Huda challenged the allegations and said he was not involved with any such irregularity.
“I have not been involved with any kinds of irregularity during my service and this is an open challenge,” Huda said while speaking to newsmen.
He also said the commission has taken his statements in connection to the inquiry and he has fulfilled the ACC queries with all necessary documents and information as per his knowledge.
Meanwhile, ACC Assistant Director Masudur Rahman questioned former lawmaker from Satkhira 2 constituency Abdul Jabbar in connection to the commission’s inquiry into the phenomenal rise in his wealth and assets.
However, the Jatiya Party leader has refused to comment before the media.
