Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be visiting Gaibandha on 25th January to inaugurate several development projects and lay down the foundation stones of several others in the district. She will also use the visit as an opportunity to exchange views with victims of the minority community.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) M Ehsan–E-Elahi made the announcement while speaking at the monthly meeting of the District Development and Coordination Committee at the DC office conference room yesterday.
The DC also reported that after landing at Tulshighat Helipad around 11.30am, the premier will hold a meeting at the Circuit House with the family members of those killed or injured in recent attacks on the minority community.
In the afternoon, she is expected to inaugurate the Gobindaganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Station, Gaibandha Textile Vocational Institute, six food warehouses, three 50-bed hospitals in Shaghata, Palashbari and Sundarganj upazilas respectively and an EPI store in the district through unveiling its plaque at Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium, he said.
“Besides, the prime minister will lay down the foundation stone of the Palashbari Thana Building, Fulchhari Thana Building, District Muktijoddha Sangshad Complex, Gobindaganj Upazila Livestock Development Centre, Gaibandha Technical Training Centre and the gallery extension of Gaibandha Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium,” said Elahi.
Later, the PM will attend and address a public meeting of the Awami League’s local district unit, at the stadium ground at 4.30pm, he added. DC Ehsan-E-Elahi also told the Dhaka Tribune that all necessary measures are being taken for the prime minister’s arrival.
